Chapter 20 — The note that can leave the room
Lesson map
Lesson 20 published. Map, example, EX036.

N["One note for this exercise"] --> A["List the sheets and which one was named"]
A --> R["State each 15:00 answer from that sheet"]
R --> L["State the census you did not change"]
L --> O["State the questions still open"]
O --> X["Remove any sentence that closes the case, names a person, or frees a room"]
The note is finished when a reader can check every sentence against a sheet or against the printed census. It is not finished when it sounds conclusive.
Logical drawing
note that may leave the room
sheets: 09:00 kept; 11:40 kept; 11:55 named for this exercise
Room 2 at 15:00 on 11:55: taken, SYN-002, no person
Room 4 at 15:00 on 11:55: taken, SYN-003, no person
census: STOP 1; OUT OF SCOPE 1; REFUSE 1; ALLOW 1; UNKNOWN 0
open: outage cause; how often a real desk reprints; next outage needs a new naming
Learning outcomes
After this chapter, you should be able to:
- Assemble one checkable note from the sheets and the unchanged census.
- Include the open questions instead of closing the exercise.
- Reject security, safety, blame, and a standing clock rule as sentences this folder cannot support.
20.1 What belongs in the note
A facilitator should be able to test the note without trusting the writer's tone. The note names the three sheets and says which one today's owner named. It answers Room 2 at 15:00 and Room 4 at 15:00 from that named page, with the booking identifiers and without personal names. It quotes the Chapter 4 census as unchanged. It lists what remains unknown: the cause of the unavailable view, whether any real desk reprints a fallback on a particular clock, and the fact that another outage will need its own naming.
Sentences that do not belong: "the library is secure," "the room is free," "the resident is named," "11:55 is the rule for this month," "ALLOW was cleared," "the outage was an attack." Each of those fails against a sheet or against the log.
Meeting the rapid course's planning count of 20 lessons does not close those questions, and it does not award a qualification. Review of sources, language, and technical accuracy remains open.
20.2 Worked example
| Line proposed for the leaving note | Check | Keep? |
|---|---|---|
| "11:55 page named for this exercise; three rows." | The naming and the page | Yes |
"Room 4 at 15:00 taken, SYN-003, no name." |
That row | Yes |
| "Census unchanged." | The printed line | Yes |
| "Cause not established." | No cause is on any sheet | Yes |
| "Harbor risk is low and the exercise is closed." | No scale and no closure condition | No |
| "Use 11:55 whenever the site fails." | The naming was for this exercise | No |
The note can leave the room. The case cannot be declared finished.
20.3 What the twentieth lesson does not finish
Another outage, a real retention rule, or a contact procedure would be further teaching if an owner defined them. They are not implied by reaching lesson 20. Other languages of this course are not published by this English note. Information security is a separate book. Read it when you mean to study that book, not as a substitute for an unanswered Harbor question.
Chapter 20 summary
The leaving note lists the named sheet, the taken slots, the untouched census, and the open questions. It does not close the case, name a person, free a room, or convert this exercise into a standing rule.

EX036 — Cut the closing sentence
- Objective: Produce a note that a facilitator can check, including what is still open.
- Input: A classmate's closing lines say, "All twenty lessons are done, so Harbor is secure, Room 4 is free after all, and 11:55 will be the fallback every morning this month."
- Safe condition: Use the synthetic folder and the printed census. Do not add a new sheet or open a site.
- Task: Replace that ending with the sheet you rely on, the two 15:00 answers, the census, and one question the folder still cannot answer.
- Expected evidence: Five checkable lines.
- Rubric: Credit when both named-page slots stay taken, the census is quoted unchanged, at least one real open question remains, and the security claim, the free room, and the monthly rule are all gone. Declaring the book finished does not earn credit.
