Learning outcomes
After this chapter, you should be able to:
- Say what the outbound paragraph may name.
- Keep the AMBER domain out of it.
- Refuse a draft that "explains" the withheld item.
16.1 A count is not a name. The second reader is looking for the name.
The CCC paragraph says two indicators from the week's alert reached EFBN mail and that both were blocked, and it names only the GREEN domain. The AMBER domain is the item that must not be spelled. A count of two, with one name, is the shape Sam used. Adding the missing name "so the count makes sense" is the breach. Even a hint that names the giftaid domain tells the community what AMBER was holding back.
A second reader checks the outbound paragraph for that name before it is sent, and initials the GREEN-only paragraph beside the send. Those initials are a check of the text. They are not a new indicator, and they are not a signature on the lab print. The lab's community list already omitted the AMBER value. The human check is there because a later sentence could put the name back in.
The office still hears the AMBER match inside EFBN, by a phone call to the chair the same day. The call is not the CCC paragraph. No phone number is printed in this book, so the note cannot add one.
Lesson table; scroll horizontally to read all columns →
| Channel | AMBER name |
|---|---|
| Community paragraph | Absent |
| Second-reader check | Looks for that absence |
| Chair, inside EFBN | May be told |
| The lab's community list | Already without it |
16.2 Worked example
Lesson table; scroll horizontally to read all columns →
| Draft sentence | Problem or fit | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| "Names the GREEN domain and does not spell the other match." | The label | May send |
| "Second reader initials the GREEN-only text." | The check | Keep |
| "Both names, so CCC can see the pair." | Reveals AMBER | Reject |
| "The paragraph includes the chair's phone number." | No number is printed | Reject |
Synthetic case. The paragraph is a classroom feedback note.
Errors and limits
Do not finish the count by typing the withheld name.

- EX062 — Outbound text. What may the CCC paragraph name, and what must a second reader confirm is absent?
Show marking criteria
Rubric: 3 = it may name the GREEN domain and a count that does not reveal the other name; the AMBER domain must be absent; the chair can still be told inside EFBN; no phone number is printed;; 2 = GREEN may be named and AMBER may not;; 1 = one name;; 0 = none.
