The report stands. Completeness does not.

Logical drawing

recorded vendor result
    no access by unknown parties
recorded limit
vendor logs may not show all access
not allowed
    a member name
    an invented access
    "the log saw everything"

Learning outcomes

After this chapter, you should be able to:

  1. Keep the vendor result as stated.
  2. Keep the limit that logs may miss access.
  3. Invent neither a member nor an extra access.

17.1 One sentence from the vendor is not a complete history.

After the public-link finding, the vendor checks access logs and reports no access by unknown parties. The same chapter warns that vendor logs may not show all access. A classmate rewrites the result as proof that nobody opened any file, or invents a member who did. Leah keeps the vendor sentence. She also keeps the limit. She adds no name and no extra event. The hour fix and the log result stay the record of that finding.

Rewrite Problem Decision
"No access by unknown parties." The vendor's report May stay
"Logs may miss access." The stated limit May stay
"Nobody opened any file." Wider than the report Refuse
"Member N opened one." Invented Refuse

Synthetic case. No member is named. No log line is fabricated.

Errors and limits

Holding both sentences is the point. Dropping the limit makes the vendor report sound like a census of every open.

Worked answers

EX063. The vendor sentence stays. The limit stays. Do not say the log saw every open. Do not invent a member or an access.
