D["A page of names is in the drawer"] --> Q{"Does the page show a print date, and does the log match it?"}
Q -->|No| R["It cannot be shown to be newer than the drill page"]
R --> W["Urgent calls do not use it as this week"]
Q -->|Yes| U["Urgent calls may use that dated page, names only"]
A stack of names without a date is not a newer extract.

reminder in the calendar

someone adds another page, no date, no writer

+-- the new page is not identified as later
+-- urgent calling still waits
+-- a usable list would carry a print date and a log line
Learning outcomes
After this chapter, you should be able to:
- Reject an undated drawer page as this week's urgent-call list.
- Say what a usable print would have to show before anyone phones from it.
- Keep a missing caller on today's appointment sheet instead of declaring that Hollybank has no record.
10.1 A second stack can still be the old news
Chapter 5 separated the calendar reminder from the drill's list. Staff now face a different object: a page already sitting in the drawer, with client names and no date. Nothing on it shows that it was printed after the drill. Nothing in the change log, which only Sofia and Dr. Moss can write, records a print. Two undated pages cannot be ordered by looking at them. Phoning from the newer-looking handwriting repeats the drill's gap whenever the page is actually the old one, and the staff cannot tell.
A list that urgent calls may use has a print date on the paper and the same date in the change log. This lesson does not place that pair into Hollybank's file.
10.2 Worked example
Lesson table; scroll horizontally to read all columns →
| Object in the office | What it shows | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Page of names, no date, no writer | Cannot be ordered against the drill page | Do not phone from it as this week |
| Calendar reminder alone | An intention to print | Still not a list |
| Page dated last Tuesday, same date in the log | A print Sofia or Dr. Moss recorded | Urgent calls may use those names |
| Caller absent from the undated page | The page may be old | Write the name and time on today's appointment sheet and mark it for a system check |
Synthetic case. No dated print is added. Do not invent client names.
Errors and limits
A dated page still omits anyone who registered after that morning. Those callers are checked in the practice system when it is up. This chapter does not set how long either paper is kept.
Apply
- EX064 — Which page may be phoned from? The drawer holds a page of names. It has no print date. The change log has the reminder and no print line. A caller is not on the page. What do you refuse, and what do you write?
Show marking criteria
Rubric: 3 = refuse the undated page as this week's list; do not say Hollybank has no record; write the caller's name and time on today's appointment sheet for a later system check;; 2 = refuse the page and avoid the "no record" claim;; 1 = one of those;; 0 = none.
