Learning outcomes

After this chapter, you should be able to:

  1. Keep the published restore print as the first exercise only.
  2. Tell a booked retest apart from a log that exists.
  3. Leave the four-hour limit unconfirmed while the second run is absent.

5.1 The approval names a later exercise

Chapter 4 records three options and the operations director's choice of the second: improvements due within thirty days, then another timed exercise. A classmate reads the signature as if the front desk had already sat down again. The file still holds one log. That log totals 245 minutes, prints MISSED by 5, and selects the database restore at 70 minutes as the longest step. The thirty-day phrase sets when the improvements are due. Nothing in the record says the window has closed, and nothing in it is a second set of step times. The engineer leaves lab_restore.py unchanged. Four hours remains a proposal until a later exercise is actually run.

5.2 Worked example

Lesson table; scroll horizontally to read all columns →

What someone cites What the file holds Decision
The director approved a second exercise A booking beside the first log Keep the booking
"The retest therefore already happened." No second list of minutes Refuse the leap
total 245 min and MISSED by 5 min The first run Leave both lines
"Edit the program so the sum meets 240." The published script Refuse the edit

Synthetic case. No second timetable is invented here. The minutes are the ones embedded from the first run.

Errors and limits

A signature can authorise a plan and still leave the plan unexecuted. This lesson does not pick a calendar day for the retest.

Worked answers

EX059. The retest is booked, not run. The first print stays 245 minutes and MISSED by 5. The thirty-day window is not described as elapsed. Do not edit the script.
