Learning outcomes

After this chapter, you should be able to:

2. Refuse a guessed saving presented as a measurement.

16.1 The book allowed a hope. It did not record a stopwatch.

Keeping restore instructions and backup credentials in a known protected place could save most of the 55 minutes spent finding them. A classmate writes "saved 40" under that sentence, and another writes "saved 50," each claiming the search is practically gone. The book states no measured saving. Forty and fifty are both outside the file. The locate line remains 55 minutes in the published log. The protected place is one of the three improvements due within thirty days. This lesson does not date that place as finished, and it does not subtract a homemade figure from 55.

Synthetic case. Forty and fifty are refused guesses. They are not a second timing.

Errors and limits

Refusing the guesses does not mock the idea of a protected place. It waits for a later exercise to show what that place actually changed.
