16.1 The reminder points forward. The adoption points at the plan.

Callum tells Ruth to review the plan after three months, because habits need attention if they are to last. The trustees adopt the plan at the end of the course. A classmate writes "three-month review: done" on the strength of that adoption, and adds two findings the meeting never recorded. Adoption is the decision to begin. The three-month look has no date in the file and no notes. Week four, a conversation with the charity manager about reports and problems, is a step inside the first month. It is not the later review. Ruth invents no finding and does not mark the three months as elapsed.

Errors and limits

Leaving the review in the future does not weaken Callum's reminder. It refuses to pretend the reminder has already been kept.
