R["One signed page for Copperleaf"] --> S{"Is that same page pinned at the second café?"}
S -->|No| P["Pin the same page. Do not write a shorter local version"]
S -->|Yes| K["Both sites follow one page"]
Two buildings do not justify two rulebooks.
Logical drawing
Copperleaf: two cafés, twelve staff, one owner
rules signed by Mrs. Adeyemi and pinned in a staff room
second café
|
+-- the pin at one site is not a pin at the other
+-- a shorter "local" page would split the decisions
+-- allergy, rota and sheet rules travel with the same page
Learning outcomes
After this chapter, you should be able to:
- Treat the signed page as the rule for both cafés.
- Refuse a shorter page written only for the second site.
- Keep one pin from standing in for the other site.
12.1 Accountability is the business, not the room
Mrs. Adeyemi is accountable for all Copperleaf data, and the three first decisions were written once. Chapter 2 pinned that page in the staff room. Copperleaf has two cafés. A pin on one wall does not put the page in front of staff who work at the other site. The assistant manager suggests a shorter note for the second café, "just the bits they need." A shorter note would let that site drift: a birthday field, a private text, a photo on a phone. Kwame pins the same signed page at the second café. He does not author a second policy. This lesson does not claim the second pin has already been dated. It states what must be pinned.
12.2 Worked example
Lesson table; scroll horizontally to read all columns →
| Second-site proposal | Relation to the signed page | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Pin a copy of the same page | One rulebook | Accept |
| "They already heard about it from the other site." | Hearing is not a pin | Pin it |
| A half-page that drops the allergy rule | A different rule | Refuse |
| A local birthday line "only at this café" | The sheet rule is business-wide | Refuse |
Synthetic case. Staff are not split into a headcount per café. Twelve remains the business total.
Errors and limits
Pinning the page does not, by itself, hold the staff meeting from Chapter 5. The meeting is still its own line. Two pins also do not create a third café.
Apply
- EX066 — One page or two? The signed rules are pinned at one café. The second café has no pin. The assistant manager drafts a shorter note that omits allergy notes. What is pinned, and what is refused?
Show marking criteria
Rubric: 3 = pin the same signed page at the second café; refuse the shorter note; one site's pin does not cover the other;; 2 = the same page, and refuse the shorter note;; 1 = one of those;; 0 = none.
