#### Day 39 — Carry an isolated pass through separately authorized production checks

**Learning task.** Bind production authority, execution and observation to the tested candidate without merging their receipts. A rehearsal establishes behavior under its own schema, identities, route coverage and simulated dependencies. Production can differ in flags, queues, credential references, audit handlers, version and concurrency. The owner must decide which differences are acceptable and which checks block staged restart. A local pass is evidence for that decision, not permission to deploy itself.

Release **C29** in its internal order. At 10:24 the service owner and incident lead approve a bounded production S42 correction and staged restart with rollback checkpoint. Authorized operators record action at 10:26. At 10:30 read-only checks show S42 `open`, S40/S41 `reserved`, `batch-17` using the approved credential path and new test transactions with useful audit fields. This is a supplied production observation distinct from C28's isolated candidate. The legitimate-job check now addresses a dependency left pending after C25's credential action; it does not establish that every identity path is safe.

**Worked receipt chain.** Use four references: isolated candidate/test version; production approval/target/window and operator/rollback roles; reported production change/version; observation/request/route/time and remaining gaps. C29 supplies the described states and times, not a full public change ticket or actual numeric production revision. Retain missing details as source limitations rather than filling them with W8-CAS's invented values. The four minutes between 10:26 operation and 10:30 check support early function only. The owner has not yet supplied C30 acceptance at this lesson's cutoff.

**Offline C8X review.** Run §8.15 unchanged and reproduce its nine lines. The mismatch rows still reject whole-snapshot S40/S41 regression and identify current S42 mismatch. `C27` and `C28` both print `NO_EXECUTION_RECEIPT` because this *second synthetic contract* asks for a production receipt before later gates. That does not erase C27's isolated audit failure or negate C28's isolated pass. `C29_INITIAL` prints `NO_OWNER_ACCEPTANCE`; the all-true `C30_LIMITED` row is a declared future-state teaching control, not an available Day 39 case result. When reproducing the complete fixture, label that row hypothetical at the 10:30 checkpoint and do not use it in your C29 decision.

The adversarial `STALE`, `AUDIT_BLANK` and `SCHEDULED_DOWN` rows independently reject stale version, bad audit and service regression. Because C8X reports the first blocker, a no-receipt label is not a complete diagnosis of every row. Its `owner`, `receipt` and `version_ok` flags are supplied premises; it cannot authenticate approval or enforce concurrency. Nor does its input include an explicit preserved-evidence/rollback gate. Preserve the larger operational contract rather than assuming a toy success checks everything.

**Contrast.** “C28 passed, so C29 must be effective everywhere and accepted at 10:30” invents authority continuity, environment equivalence, coverage and acceptance. “C8X prints no receipt for C27, so its actor failure did not happen” lets classifier order rewrite an independent observation. A defensible status says production approved, action reported and early selected-scope checks supplied; owner acceptance and sustained monitoring still pending.

**Offline practice.** Build the C29 row of [EX039](#exercise-ex039): 10:24 authority, 10:26 report, 10:30 checks, target and stop conditions. Add four hypothetical failure branches—wrong S42 value, changed S40/S41, scheduled-route failure, blank new actor—and name the owner/rollback review each would require. No branch is a real additional event. Compare the [worked answer](#answer-ex039) only after marking its C30 portion as later evidence to be released on Day 40.

**Limits and decision.** Await the planned observation/owner review; do not announce service acceptance or incident closure from the first production check. Protect preserved case evidence and the rollback precondition while monitoring continues.

### Exercise for this lesson

<a id="exercise-ex039"></a>
**EX039 — Staged return record.** Objective: separate isolated evidence, production authority/action/checks and later owner acceptance. Inputs: C25–C29 and Day 39 for Part A at 10:30; add C30 only on Day 40 for Part B. Record C28 isolated pass, C29 10:24 approval/10:26 operation/10:30 checks, then the 15-minute observation and 10:45 limited acceptance with two more monitoring hours assigned. Reproduce C8X's nine lines; distinguish first-blocker labels from C27's audit finding and classify C30_LIMITED as a fixture premise before release. Include four stop/rollback-review branches and named responsible roles, without inventing identities or completed future monitoring. Rubric: 0 = 10:30 acceptance, borrowed approval or erased audit failure; 1 = correct timestamps but incomplete gate/environment/owner limits; 2 = auditable staged record and exact scoped fixture reasoning. [Worked answer](#answer-ex039).

## Worked answers

<a id="answer-ex039"></a>
**EX039 — Model staged-return timeline.** 10:24 C29 approval: S42 correction, staged restart, rollback checkpoint and owners named. 10:26 operator receipt: bounded production change performed. 10:30 read-only checks: S42 open, S40/S41 reserved, approved `batch-17` functioning and new audit fields present. 10:45 C30: 15-minute monitored interval with no unexpected S42 edits or job failure in observed sources; service owner accepts limited return and assigns two more hours of monitoring. A mismatch in slot values, route failure or blank new actor field would trigger stop and rollback review by the named operator/owner. The four-minute result at 10:30 is an initial check, not proof of sustained stability.

**Additional professional worked reasoning:** Keep 10:24 C29 approval, 10:26 reported action, 10:30 bounded read-only/service/audit checks, and 10:45 C30 service-owner *limited* acceptance as distinct states. Fifteen minutes of monitored observation is supplied for the selected scope; the additional two-hour monitoring period is a **future assignment**. Reopen on unexpected S42 writes, scheduled-job failure, wrong values or missing audit actor. Do not treat 10:30 as an accepted end time.

**Week 8 Day 39 — worked staged evidence.** At the Day 39 cutoff C29 supplies 10:24 bounded production approval, 10:26 operator action and 10:30 selected data/job/audit checks. C28 remains the earlier isolated pass. The four-minute operational window is not owner acceptance. C8X's exact nine labels are SNAPSHOT_MISMATCH S40,S41; CURRENT_MISMATCH S42; C27 NO_EXECUTION_RECEIPT; C28 NO_EXECUTION_RECEIPT; C29_INITIAL NO_OWNER_ACCEPTANCE; C30_LIMITED BOUNDED_ACCEPTED_NOT_INCIDENT_CLOSURE; STALE STOP_STALE_VERSION; AUDIT_BLANK AUDIT_GATE_FAIL; SCHEDULED_DOWN SERVICE_GATE_FAIL. The C30 row is a declared fixture premise before its case release. C27 has a separate known audit failure despite the first-blocker label. On Day 40 add C30's 10:45 limited acceptance after the 15-minute observed interval, with two hours assigned rather than completed. Wrong values, slot regression, scheduled failure or required audit gaps require stop/escalation and designated rollback review, not invented automatic success.
